Just over halfway through my holiday –overtime to report in! I have hardly had time to breathe, let alone think of workmates. Mexico City is beyond description – so intriguing, busy, crowded, friendly, totally different to any other city, and despite all its bad press I found it to be safe. Organised chaos! So much to see and not enough time to even scratch the surface! I did visit Frida Kahlo’s house, walked the streets of Coyacan, and shopped in the markets. Six weeks wouldn’t give you enough time to see it all!
With Frida and Diego Rivera!
I went out to Teotihuacan and yes, I climbed all the way to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun! Descending was scarier as it is so steep, but there were no falls or broken bones. Strangely I didn’t even suffer any sore muscles!
There were 30 women from 19 different countries for the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Project LEAD International, most from Latin America, Africa, Europe and the ex-Russian states as well two other Australians and one New Zealander. A very impressive group of women, and one man from India! The program was non-stop with lectures and study group sessions, all held together by an adult education specialist – a stickler for time keeping! The best run course I have ever attended, heated discussion and controversy not withstanding!
With my study group at the course in Cancun!
And now I am in Williamsburg with the needleworkers.
